A Note From the Producer

Each show, our staff is faced with a number of difficult choices. Our experience in Community Theater in the metro area has taught us to expect a large turnout of exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals at our auditions.

This production of Fiddler on the Roof is no exception. In the first two weekends, we heard over 125 people trying out for all roles. We were confronted with the difficult reality of having to close cast auditions and choose from the pool of talent available to us at that time. Please note: Orchestra Audtions will continue throughout May.

If you were not chosen, did not get the role you had hoped for, or were not able to audition this time around, take heart. Because of sheer numbers, we had to make our choices for lead roles this year without including some people who are equal in proficiency to those who were chosen for those roles. Please consider this your open invitation to attend our future tryouts, and pursue all your heart can dream of.

If you are cast in a principal, understudy, or ensemble role, and feel you cannot fulfill it, we would rather hear about it sooner than later. Everyone is considered an integral and important part of the production, and it is a loss of everyone’s time to rehearse staging and choreography for anyone who would be absent later.

As a note of information, our annual “Community Theater Spirit” awards are made to the ensemble members who demonstrate the highest character, commitment, and extra help to make sure their roles and the show in general is the very best it can be. We don’t give awards for talent in this organization. If we did, there would be literally dozens of such awards for each production.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your life,
The Ovation Players Production Staff
