LCMA Announces Youth Orchestra Director  [Posted 6/7/06]
Littleton Community Music Association is pleased to name Brett O'Neill as its new director of the Littleton Youth Orchestra (LYO). Mr. O'Neill, a Littleton, CO native, is Instrumental Music Director at Ken Caryl Middle School, where his popular programs include two string orchestras, two concert bands, an after-school jazz band, and over 150 students. Mr. O'Neill has directed community orchestras in Greeley and performed with the Aurora Symphony and Rocky Mountain Brass Works. Brett is currently a member of the National String Teachers Association, Colorado Music Educators Association, and the Colorado Band Masters Association. The Littleton Youth Orchestra was founded in 1996 by Betty Lou Keddington, who built the organization to 85 members and a six-concert season prior to her retirement. In accepting the position, Mr. O'Neill said, "I am excited to be involved once again with community orchestras, and look forward to continuing the fine tradition and vision of the Littleton Youth Orchestra." Brett is also Strings Director for the LCMA sponsored Summer Band Program at Lenski Elementary in Littleton. Littleton Community Music Association, founded in 1992, is a Colorado nonprofit and currently hosts several performing groups, including the Windjammers, Rootin' Tootin's, Skylarks, Littleton Community Band, and Ovation Players in addition to LYO. Elvis Sighting at 2006 Capitol Hill People's Fair  [Posted 6/5/06]
The Windjammers Jazz Orchestra, LCMA's flagship group, played to over a thousand enthusiastic fans on the KEZW Swing Stage, June 4, 2006. Special guest appearances by Louis Prima and Elvis reincarnations had the crowds swinging and rockin' for nearly two hours.
