SOUTH PACIFIC - Tickets Now On Sale!  [Posted 5/31/05]
Tickets for The Ovation Players' summer production, South Pacific, July 22-31 at the Lakewood Cultural Center are on sale now! Special rates for seniors, students, and groups are available. Set in an island paradise during WWII, Rodgers & Hammerstein's perennial favorite tells the love stories of two couples and their triumph over prejudice. Hit songs include Some Enchanted Evening, Bali Ha'i, There is Nothin' like a Dame, and Happy Talk. HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN'S GOLOSHES OF FORTUNE  [Posted 5/27/05]
OFFERED FOR FAMILIES IN THE SUMMER - ON SALE JUNE 1 WHO: Denver Center Theatre Academy, an education department of The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. WHAT: Hans Christian Andersen's magical fairytale, Goloshes of Fortune, will entertain families this summer. Adapted by Elizabeth Wong, this play tells the tale of two fairies who wonder whether humans know what makes them happy. To find out, they sneak a pair of magical goloshes into the lives of three children whose greatest wishes are fulfilled. The children soon learn, however, to be careful what they wish for as their wishes begin to go awry. WHERE: Historic Tramway building at 1101 13th St. WHEN: July 5-8 and July 12-15, Tuesday-Thursday at 11am, Friday at 11am and 1 pm. HOW: Tickets are $5 and go on sale June 1. Another long running musical (607 performances on Broadway, 268 performances in London), Bye Bye Birdie is about singer-idol Conrad Birdie's televised all-American kiss for one lucky girl, right before his induction into the army. Kim MacAfee in Sweet Apple, Ohio wins the honor. Bye Bye Birdie features A Lot of Livin' to Do, and Put on a Happy Face.
